Since a beaver had shredded my 400lb line, I went and bought spool of 25yds 600lb replacement but it would bind up in my factory AMS bottle due to the bottle being too small.

I started to buy the bigger bottle from ams website but they wanted 10 bux for the bottle plus almost 20 to ship it. So 30 bux in all.

I went to the convenience store and compared size and threads and found that the Vitamin Water bottle fits the ams neck perfectly. Cost =1.88 with tax

To my surprise, it even shoots better than before. Where before the line would bind and tug on the arrow in flight.
This bottle releases almost too much string due to its less restrictive neck. You have much less drag on the arrow.

If you need a bigger bottle, check it out.

Interesting. I've always thought that 25 yards was too much for the little bottle. I always cut mine down to 15-20 yards. I never shoot that far anyway so that solved my problem.

Yeah, I have to agree it is too much in general. But after tagging that beaver, I was glad to have some slack and didn't want to cut this new string down should I get on another beaver. But yep, for me too, 99% of my shots are within 10 yards. But for 1.88, you can pack in all of the 25 yds that come on a new spool and have room to spare, plus you dont have to cut your new string down (should you ever buy a new spool).

HAHA! Man, you aren't kidding! Playing tug-o-war with a beaver for 30 mins jacked up my fingers pretty bad. Once I finally got some leverage on him I reached for a glove but he had already gotten another 10 yds out again. But once I got a glove on, his butt was doomed.

I learned pretty quick to never wrap my hand. I will grab and twist, but wrapping is bad news.

I hate shooting with a glove on, so what i do is just have a glove on my left at all time and keep right bare. Stinks cuz im not as strong with left, but when i get a big fish and know its going to run i switch hands and no burn. it saves me alot of time just keeping the one glove on. plus washing my hands 50+ times a day makes it hard to have man hands.
