Ever shoot any lakes up by Charlevoix? I'm heading there over the 4th and want to stick some carp. Never shot anything but gar off the lake our cabin is on.

If the gar are thick on the lake I'll just spend my nights there. Might try lake Charlevoix just for the fun of it.

Got up to the lake today and put the boat in to go for a little ride and found a few gar. Had the bow with me, so I dropped the troller and chased em around for a little bit. They were real skittish, so I only ended up with 1. Can't wait for tonight though, should be a good time out there.

No gar....water must still be too cold up here in Alaska for them to be in the shallows yet. Kinda disappointed.

We shot 2 gar, a carp, 2 suckers and 4 catfish. The bugs were horrendous for a while, then they all died off the the cats were top feeding. They wouldn't stand for the lights so I ended up shooting them from 15 yards or so. It was a good time.

We stayed to the south side, launched from Eagle Point. We tried up the river under the bridge too. You didn't happen to be on the west side of the lake with some bright arsed lights were you? :D There was a boat cruising the shore when we made a run down the middle to the southeast.

Ive been wanting to try there, but it doesn't sound like it would really be worth the trip.

Going out on the lake tonight to shoot AT some more gar and watch the fireworks.

Everywhere I shoot is sand/muck too...Only go through a couple tips a year. Might make a trip down there next spring just to do it.

Ended up with about 15 more shots tonight and actually hit one. Lol. Haven't seen one over 25" yet, so it makes for tough shooting.
