Yup...shot a 15" gar once. Couldn't believe I didn't just split it in half.

you guys running into green slim on top of the water? We were out last weekend and had it everywhere. It looked like an oil slick but was green. Made it really hard to see anything

Yup...All the rivers have it. Lakes are good, but rivers are coated like you said.

The grand is a little bigger than the rivers I shoot though, that's probably why.

The river I shoot in flows both ways, depending on wind, rain, and water levels...so basically, there is no current.
What are you going to TC for?

I have a cabin by Charlevoix. We go up most weekends from memorial day to labor day.

I do a little Bowfishing on the little lake we live on. It's got some gar in it, but that's it.
I'd like to get out into lake Charlevoix, or lake MI and give it a shot sometime.

Yup. As long as its a calm day with an offshore wind I take it out. Just gotta be smart.

I got caught up it the hype of my first tourney this year...we weren't getting any fish in the cut we were in, so I decided to make a 6 mile run on the Saginaw bay to try a different river. Wasn't to choppy when I left, but about 2 miles in I came around a little point and got into some waves a little over 2 foot. Had to pound trough them for the last 4 miles. When it was all said and done, I had 5 or 6 loose rivets from hitting the waves....and still didn't find any fish. Lol

a 6 mile run sounds sketchy anyways to me. at least in my boat.lol I would also like to shoot the big lake sometime. just probably with someone else. or it has to be a perfect night out. Hopefully buying a 50 hp next week so then I will be able to run 6 miles with out fear.

On a calm day, a 6 mile run takes about 10 min. That trip took about a half hour. We had my dad bring the truck around to a different ramp to pick us up do we didn't have to bang all the way back. If it was night time I wouldn't have thought of it. I'm comfortable on big water during the day, but at night it's pretty sketchy when you don't know what's just ahead of you.
