We usually spend our winters duck and goose huntin and most of the rest of the year we spend shootin fish. We have never fished much in cold weather. Any tips on shootin fish in the winter? When is the best time to start killin them.

Where you from. Everything is iced here in the winter so I don't really know.

Dress warm!

Ive been going ever since the weekend after duck season, went a few times during the week when i got a chance. Carp are out havent seen much gar activity yet, think its still a little cold for them.

Carp are still out and the cold water has them a lil sluggish!

I never saw a huge change in the carp besides a little fewer numbers but the gar disappear lol. You may catch a stray every once and a blue moon but other than that just go try it out and see what ya get. Can't hurt to try.

Winter is awesome. Been shooting plenty around here. Best thing is you can shoot a bucket full and be in bed by 9 or 10. Also that's when I seem to shoot bigger cats
really, all our cats move up around mid June early July that's when it gets fun, shooting a 30-40 lb flathead :) I had one last year but they have a bad habit of pulling the arrows back out of then if you don't have a great shot on them

I wish we didn't freeze up here in the winter. Not much to do except for ice fish.

We just got 4 a few days ago and are expecting 8 more tomorrow night. Not complaining though. Need all the precipitation we can get to bring these water levels up some.

Nice double post. Haha. That's what happens when you live in Michigan. Snow....rain....95*......rain.......repeat. Been missing a lot of the rain and snow lately though.

I have seen one episode of Arrow Affliction that has bowfishing for carp during the winter done one a river stream. I have also seen it in a small section of open water at a dam during winter. By winter I mean its cols enough that most still water is frozen over.
