I have seen a couple of guys posting about using modified slingshots for bowfishing and they are liking it. I have never tried it thus I thought I would ask if anyone here had given it a go to see what their thoughts are on this.

I know you can do it, but is it accurate enough or consistent?

Does the arrow have enough punch to penetrate bigger fish (gar)?

I've never done it but want to give it a try...Just never got around to it. I think it would be kinda fun for something different once in a while.

Yeah, I have an 8 yr old step son am thinking about giving it a go so he can get out there with me. He has a bow, but hes not accurate enough with it yet to hit a fish. I was thinking this might give him another way to keep up and have fun.

I will probably give it a try and if you want, I can post up the results here if you are interested in seeing how it goes.

Hi Hawst, I don't know about the slingshots converted for arrows but the slingbow has proven itself to be worthy of the penetration into a 100# gar and there have been three sharks that I know of killed by myself and one of my friends. I'm sure there are more stories out there. It is very accurate and easy to master. I built slingshots and shot them before but never at any living thing because it barely would penetrate my target. I wasn't very consistant with it either. But that's just me. I have shot stingrays, 49# bull redfish, sheephead, flounder, countless carp and buffalo fish using my slingbow. That is all done with a 40# powerband too. I have arthritis really bad and can't take the 60# pull so I use the 40# and I have even killed hogs using the 40#. If you want to see the info on the slingbow
Slingbow, slingshots, it all comes down to penetration and preference. Happy bowfishing!
