Im getting one of my first bows and i would like to know what you guys would recommend, im trying to go as cheap as possible

Depends what you mean by cheap. I just bought my second discovery 2 and think they are one of the best bows around. New bow shipped is about $200 and a quick draw rest shipped is about $50. I just got the bow and rest for $150 used. It was shot twice. Ck the bowfishing sites and craigslist.
A reel or retriever is about $90. If I can find one used that puts a $340 outfit at about $200. Quite a nice outfit but still $200.

depends on where your from. check craigslist for old compounds or recuves. I love my recurves but also shoot compounds sometimes. I think the most i spent on a bow was about $40. my ams reels cost more that the bows I shoot.

mattman brings up a good point. However I have a 30" draw length. Everything I found used in that length was 60-70 lbs. to much for me and the carp.

You will have the bow for decades why not spend $300. and thing of it costing you 30 dollars a year over 10 years....
