well i just bought me a champion 4000 watt generator with 1 regular 120 outlet and 2 other different 120 outlets. It doesnt have a 240 outlet. i beleive they are on a 30 amp fuse. Im using 6 500 watt halogens. I havent even got the generator yet i just ordered it, i doubt i can hook all 6 lights to one outlet because i think it will pop the fuse. i hate electricity if yall know anything id appreciate it. Ready to choot some fish in da face!!

Watts = Amps X Volts

Amps = Watts / Volts

Amps = (500watts X 6lights) / 120volts

Amps = 25

If its a 30 amp circuit you should be fine. But it wouldn't hurt to hook them up 3 and 3 to two different outlets.

Drop down to 300 watt bulbs or 150 you don't need 500's if you use 300's you'll have some watt left over and it'll save you on gas. You can use one outlet if you do this.

I have Ten 150 watt halgons on my boat. I have the champion 3500 watt gen. I ran my genny for 14 hours before I have to put gas in it. I'm not running half the load.

4000 watt 6 x 500 = 3000 watts 4000 genn - 3000 watts = 1000 watts left.

4000 watt 6 x 300 = 1800 watts 4000 genn - 1800 watts = 2200 watts left

10 x 150 = 1500 watts 3500 watt gen 3500 - 1500 = 2000 watts left to run video camera rope lights and battery charger.

If you drop down you'll save gas and you can use one outlet.

My 2 cents

Belive it are not it'll also make your genn run quiter and won't have such a load on it.

I agree with you on the use less gas and quieter part but I would still stick with the 500w bulbs. There is a huge difference from the 500-300s IMO. I tried putting 300 bulbs in my lights last spring instead of the 500 bulbs and I hated it. Couldn't see half as much as before. Now if you could happen to get your hands on the 250 ultra bulbs those are supposed to be as bright as the 500s but I've never been able to find them.

I got the same generator and run 6 halos off it. I use a 120v power cord that splits into 3. havent really had many problems with it, but sometimes you gotta unplug a couple lights due to a tripped breaker.
