First would be the Darton Ranger X in the Muddy Girl pattern and its 209.99 new bare bow right from Dartons web site. The other is Barnett Vortex you can find for 139.99 with a modest bowfishing package.

You could pick a an older pse team Fitzgerald (what my girl shoots) or a browning micro Midas, you won't break the bank with either of those and they work great for fishing.

My wife is getting along great with her Diamond Infinite Edge, 5 to 70 lbs and 75 precent let off.
I concur that this is probably the "best" bow for beginners and females - but - its not a cheap bow so unless they are committed to staying with archery, it might not be a first choice. They are awesome though. And if commited to archery I dont think you can go better than this.,
