been making gaffs for awhile but when i first started could not get them to stick into fish unless i hit it just right. tried different angles on point it didn't matter. then when a friend of mine told me to put that one little bend in it (where the arrow is pointing to in picture) night and day

Good tip. It weird how little things like that make such a huge difference.

What rod do you use? I need to make one soon. Tired of my buddy always loosing fish at the boat.

Thought about trying a piece of 5/16" rod and putting an old arrow point on it. That way you'd have a tip that could be replaced when it got dull. That is if you get a lot of fish.
