I hate to ask a fairly in depth question for being so new to the forums. I have been looking around for a couple days now for a new setup. I have not owned one before.my friend took me bow fishing the other day i had a blast so its time for me to rig up. As everything else I know I get what I pay for but i dont have much money to blow so im looking for a good bang for buck deal. Under 400. I have found a few used ones on craigslist. If someone would be so kind to look at a few of these or fill me in on some other options.

This is what you will want.

That particular setup is everything you need and the PSE D2 is a badass little bow. The reel is all personal preference.
The 2 basic types of reels are spinner and bottle. The one is the pic is a bottle and check out muzzy for a good spinner reel.
A bottle is reliable, safe, and little hassle. But it is slow, and most fish have to be pulled in by hand.
A spinner can be a bit more temperamental and it's always a good idea to keep a backup. But they are fast to reel in, and fish can be fought like you're using a fishing pole.
You can buy the bow I posted as just the bow and buy everything to add to it to your liking, or you can buy the complete setup and be good to go.
Best of luck

Cabelas has both the discovery and the tidal wave in stock for the same price. The tidal has a bigger discount on it. I though do not see the diffrence between the two can you fill me in. To throw one other in the loop The local shop here also has the ams fish hawk package for close to the same price pro cons? Worth it?

I don't know a lot about the bows. From all I've read on other peoples reviews the discovery 2 seems to be the favorite. Although any bow will do. I use an old deer hunting bow I got for free and turned the limbs way down. My bow before that was a bear whitetail hunter that I got for a $1 at a garage sale. But I've seen the D2 in action and was far better than my bow.
Nuffdaddy thank for your input it is appreciated
I shoot a recurve i bought for $40. works great, and killed a ton of fish. To be honest those oneidas are overpriced and weight alot(the older ones). I have one and dont use it because my arm get tired to quick, i know im weak. if you keep looking you can find some really good deals. dont shy away from buying a bow and reels at different times. good luck
