only got 4. biggest was close to 30lbs and the others were like 20lbs. boat died down river and somehow had 2 dead batteries. it was fun pulling ourselfs upstream by the overhanging trees. It was just a trial run but next time I will be 100% prepaired

I guess suckers are starting to hit the rivers and ditches pretty hard now. I got a busy week, but it's on this weekend. Got a couple things to do to the boat then it's ready for some daytime shooting. Still no lights though.

always kinda wanted to try a day shoot. did shoot at some gar last summer but it was hard seeing as they were in about 15 feet of water and would dive deep when the boat came up. looking forward to shooting the spawn this year

Gar are nearly impossible to shoot during the daylight. Carp and suckers are a little easier but night is still 10X better.

I might just hook up the old halos for a quick night run this weekend before I get the HPS hooked up.

thats what i have been doing. Just running the halos untill i can make the HPS switch. you wont believe the looks you get in the day time. Last year we had some people tubing down the Grand and ask us what we were doing. We probably had the same look on our face, confused and surprised, the Grand is gross.

Last year i did a lot of shooting along the kawkalin near the mouth and had several people call us over at night on the weekends when they were all out partying at 2am. Some were mad and others thought it was cool and asked a ton of questions. Either way I was as polite as possible and never had police come for any complaints.

usually we get a pretty good response from people around here. I do feel bad when we just crusing along and end up almost in some couples lap that were enjoying the night. Its hard to look for fish, steer the boat, and watch for people. I always smile and wave, or give a head nod, but my genny is too loud in the boat for us to hear them. Most people just leave us alone.
