G'day, we'll this site just keeps getting better. When I'm not bowfishing or taking a break from it I'm generally out shooting. The state I live in doesn't have much in the way of wild pigs so I go after foxes & rabbits. Deer hunting is huge in Victoria although I haven't hunted them before. Our state government is about to declare the samba as a pest as they love our high country & seem to breed like rabbits. When I lived in NSW (New South Wales) I used to get out to my uncles 3000acre property & hit the local pig population. Out that way it doesn't rain much so with the ground as hard as rock you don't get grunta's with decent hooks but the average size is around 125kgs. My uncle has kangaroo's in plague numbers & the pigs aren't hard to find either. I don't have many firearms but what I have covers the main groups of shooting. I have an old 37yr old Samsul 12g side-by-side for rabbits & foxes, a krico model 300 22mag bolt action for foxes & rabbits out to 100yds, the main one I use is the howa 1500 22-250 bolt action which is my open range rifle for foxes, roo's ,wild dogs & pigs. lastly the ruger M7 30-06 for bigger pigs & one day samba. I'll finish up with a photo of a nice redcoats I nailed the other night & a 90kg pig I knocked down last year, cheers ;)

Sounds like you have an awful lot of critters to chase around down there. Good looking red and pig you got there. :thumbsu:
Cheers Fella's, the strike rate on my uncles place is pretty high. Every time I go out you always see something on the move. The main problem they have out that way is my uncles neighbours don't shoot or kull pests so you can go in their one night & clean the place out, go back a week later & it was as if you never went out in the first place (it's good but its bad). The Roo's destroy fences & crops so my uncle gets issued tags to shoot roo's. I think they get 200 tags per year but in all honesty you would go through that amount of tags in about 2 months. The pigs rip up the ground, get into the crops & attack livestock. No rabbits out that way with the ground being so hard but you do get the odd hare from time to time. Plenty of foxes & wild dogs but they aren't in plague numbers. The government offers a bounty on foxes which is $10 a scalp but a wild dog will get you $100 as they are harder to get onto & sorry about the up side down photo of the fox

that's a nice bonus there.
Down south you can get a $5 bounty on neutra but I think that is all the government offers here.

Just a quick pic, This is my .22 Winchester Wildcat. I only run subsonics through it for very light hunting (rabbits, hares & foxes) & last week the new torch arrived. Its a Wolfeye Seal. The sales pitch for it was "beam throw 400mtrs" & I tell ya what it sure did just that. Once the weather gets better I'm going to mount it up to the .22-250 & see what I can hit at distance

G'day, been spending the last 6months focusing my attention on my weiruarch HW66 production 22 hornet. The day I bought it I took it to a gun smith & had it converted to a K-Hornet. I was working on hand load development yesterday & a bit of fire forming & this happened. Total case separation. Absolutely guttered so it's going to a specialised gunsmith to have it completely reamed from scratch & case match. I'm hoping to turn a bad situation into a good one because a friend who has a matched chamber on his K is getting an extra 250fps over the standard loading books specs. I'll be happy if this happens once the rifle is re-done
