I alway wonder where the gar go when the water cools down. It seems like there all over the place when the water is hot. i know a couple years ago when we had that hot summer the water killed off most the pike in part of a river i was at but there were gar everywhere! no that the water dropped in the low 50's i will be lucky to find one. didnt know if they went deep or if im just looking in the wrong spots

FWIW. I've seen them while ice fishing swimming just under the ice in 5ish foot of water. I know what your saying though. Gar everywhere in June/july/August. Then they disappear. Let me know if you ever figure out where they go.
